If Education Week's antennae are working, presumptive EdSec Arne Duncan's list of top appointees to the Department of Education does not include Linda Darling-Hammond, education transition-leader for Obama and sharpest progressive education voice around.

Duncan is probably finalizing his appointments as we speak, so please take a minute to sign this petition while there's still time.

If you want background to help you decide, see Darling-Hammond's lectures and presentations on the videos page, read her articles and research reports on the Forum for Education and Democracy, and check out my Diigo online bookmarks about her. (And read that Education Week post about the alternatives Duncan is rumored to be considering. If true, it's a bad augury of things to come.)

Darling-Hammond has done unparalleled work for the Obama campaign, and for the cause of improving schools. Let's try to save her (and our schools) from the underside of the schoolbus.
