Photo Essay from Congo: Portraits of Insecurity

by Michael Bear · 2009-06-25 17:29:00 UTC

Just a quick one, to draw attention to the photo essay Portraits of Insecurity by Michael Kavanagh of the Pulitzer Center on Crisis Reporting, looking at the impact of the recent fighting in eastern Congo.

These photos - and the accompanying text - give an excellent glimpse of what's happening in the region.  The photo above, for instance, shows a woman who fled when Congolese troops entered the town of Kashebere.

The photo essay is posted at the Foreign Policy website.
