Rolling Out the Red Carpet

First grade teacher Mrs. Moore: What do you want to be when you grow up?

Mike: A blogger!

Mrs. Moore: A blogger? But it’s 1986….

OK, so it didn’t go quite like that. But hindsight is 20/20, and if I had it to do over again, I certainly would have said blogger instead of veterinarian. (Not that I mean any offense to my dear animal friends.)

Welcome to the new face of www.change.org, and in particular to the gayrights.change.org blog. I’m honored and privileged to be able to learn and hear from all of the readers of this blog – those activists making a difference for LGBT rights around the country, and around the world.

The signs of the times fit this blog so well. Whether it’s same-sex marriage, anti-discrimination bills, international efforts to decriminalize homosexuality, adoption, HIV/AIDS, hate crimes, military service or more, gayrights.change.org will – with your help – dig deep into the vast landscape of issues that affect the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender rights movement.

Or more succinctly, as a friend of mine once said, “It’s a gay world, Mike. Someone’s gotta cover it.” Here’s to covering everything and anything LGBT about this world.  Oh, and for more information about me, click on this profile link.
