From Earth Day Network's email today: If you support green renovation for schools, tell your senator in ten seconds by signing this petition - the vote will happen possibly today, possibly on the weekend, so don't delay.

Urgent alert - tell your Senators now!

A group of Senators led by Susan Collins (R-ME) and Ben Nelson (D-NE) is trying to get green schools funding removed from the stimulus package! These are economy-boosting programs that would help bring our schools into the 21st century - these Senators would cut some $14 billion the House approved for green school renovations. We can't let this happen!

Greening and repairing America's schools would create 300,000 jobs in the construction industry, and help stimulate green technology and energy efficiency. An investment in educational services will generate significantly more jobs - over 23 jobs per $1 million invested - than spending in any other public infrastructure sector.

Please call your Senators now at 202 224-3121 and tell them you want investments in education and green schools in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan. You have the power to win this battle to transform our education system and turn it into a model of innovation, ingenuity and sustainability. The vote could happen as early as today!
