Social Innovation on Campus: Recapping the Brown SII Series
For the last few weeks, we've been sharing an incredible series of posts written by members who are a part of Brown University's Social Impact Initiative. The authors have included students, administrators, staff and social entrepreneurs working on everything from health in Mali to anti-genocide activism. They've covered a vast array of topics here at Change.org, all connected to the increasingly vital theme of how to incubate a community for social entrepreneurs on campus.
In case you missed any of them, here are links to the posts, in the order they appeared:
1. Brown University's Culture of Innovation - by Roger Nozaki, Director of the Howard R. Swearer Center for Public Service at Brown Univeristy.
2. A Professor's Advice to Student Leaders - by Barrett Hazeltine, Associate Dean Emeritus of the College and Professor Emeritus of Engineering at Brown University.
3. On Creativity, Critique and Being a Student Entrepreneur - by Catie Whelan, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Merasi School.
4. Establishing a Culture of Generosity - by Charles Harding, Co-Founder and Vice President of Sales & Marketing at Runa.
5. Doing Good While Bridging the College-Community Gap - by Rachel Levenson, Chief Coordinator of BRYTE.
6. Seeing a Crop of Social Innovators - by Molly Mills, leader of the SII Grants Competition.
7. Student By Day, Robin Hood By Night: A How-To Guide - by Caitlin Cohen, Chair and Co-Founder of the Mali Health Organizing Project (and also a regular contributor to Change.org's Global Health blog!).
8. From Student to Leader: Taking the Leap - by Scott Warren, Executive Director and Co-Founder of Generation Citizen.
9. On Struggling for Legitimacy as a Student Leader - by Emma Clippinger, Co-Founder of Gardens For Health.
10. Taking the Leap as a Student Leader - by Anna Ninan, Executive Director of the Mali Health Organizing Project.
11. Making Your University A Social Innovation Incubator - by Alan Harlam, Director of Social Entrepreneurship at Brown University.
We've been very glad to partnership with Brown on this series, and thankful to have had their voices shared on our site. It's my own belief that this series of posts is a "must-read" for any university that's trying to build a platform for entrepreneurial education and innovation -- or any undergraduates who want to kick off their own initiatives, for that matter. Thanks for following along, and good luck on your own ventures!
