Somalia - Deadliest Place in the World for Aid Workers

According to recent statistics from the Somalia NGO Safety and Preparedness (SPAS) Program, a total of 36 aid workers have been killed in Somalia this year, including two so far in December.  Thirty-two of those killed were Somalia staff, and four were international staff.

Overall, there have been a total of 144 direct incidents involving humanitarian agencies since January.  Twenty-eight humanitarian staff have also been abducted this year.
