Spec Ed Aide Accused of Assaulting Student

The county-appointed special education aide of an 8-year-old on the autism spectrum, Noah Mullin, has not only been found to have allegedly abused the child: When Noah's parents investigated the record of the aide, Elise Dansby, they found that she had pleaded no contest to assaulting an autistic student in Dickson County (Tennessee) five years ago. Yesterday's MSNBC reported that, after growing concerned about his son, Charles Mullin put a voice-activated recorder in his son's sweatshirt:
"What we found out was shocking," said Jody Mullins. "I cried all weekend after I heard it."
What the Mullins got was an 8-hour audio snapshot of Elise Dansby. There was one moment during snack time when Noah was counting his money, and Dansby yelled at him, "Put the money up."
"You can hear him say, 'That's too loud,'" said Jody.
Minutes later, she takes the money away. Noah tries to get it back.
"That sounded like she was about to hit him, to be honest," said Charles.
What's even harder to fathom in this case is that Dansby assaulted the other student, Kelsey Mayberry, in front of her mother.
Or maybe the hardest thing of all to fathom is, how could the school district have hired Dansby?
News Update. Gary McKinnon has lost the latest round in his fight against being extradited to the US, as reported in today's Scotsman: British prosecutors have refused to bring charges against him.
Now what fate awaits McKinnon?
