72,800 Oregon students qualified for special education services this year, yesterday's Oregonian reports: That means, among school-age children, 1 in 8 students qualifies for special education.

Here in New Jersey, according to data from the Department of Education's Office of Special Education Programs, 233,804 children---17% of NJ students---qualified for special education services in 2007.
