Spring Time Bloom

I'm spending the day wishing my Iranian friends (and everyone in between) a Happy Norouz, which means "New Day" and marks the Persian New Year. I see that President Obama has also sent his happy Norouz wishes to the people of Iran. Talks of peace and new beginnings. Unprecendented. Impressed.

Along with being the Persian New Year, it also marks the first day of Spring. Birds chirping and flowers blooming. So in honor, I wanted to share the story of how the Fair Trade flower industry has helped Ecuador bloom and have its own new beginning. It's a Frontline segment following the story of progressive grower, John Nevado who has taken the lead in the Fair Trade flower movement in Ecuador.

For me, it's time to venture outside and take a walk around the Botanical Gardens near my house and see Spring in action. Happy Norouz everyone.
