Stories I've Missed in the Last Week
As mentioned, some family stuff had stolen me away from the blog this past week. But I'm getting back on track!
In cleaning out my Google reader, I just had to share these:
Stress impairs memory function in poor children; intergenerational poverty ensues. "Children with stressed lives, then, find it harder to learn...It is not surprising that they do less well at school, end up poor as adults and often visit the same circumstances on their own children." (H/t Natasha - are you reading Sustainable Food yet??)
Instead of tent cities, why not shipping container compounds? Old shipping containers = low-cost, award-winning housing (etc.) solutions. Worker housing for all! Discuss.
As I've been saying, economic instability can be atrociously destablizing.
A fabulous feminist blogger friend takes us to task here for our classist assumptions lately. How can we get her to join Change.org and really let us have it? :)
If it's good enough for welfare recipients, it's good enough for Rick Wagoner.
The progressive caucus budget in all its fabulous glory...we'll pass it someday!!
