The nation's attention today turns toward California and the legal battle over the validity of Proposition 8. First, as Lee Dorsey pointed out here, there's another way to watch the webcast of this morning's (9:00am PST) hearings. You can do so by going to SFGTV's Web site (just click on the link on the upper-right side that says "Watch SFGTV"). The SFGTV-2 channel will be webcasting the hearing, which we hear might be better because calchannel.com gets overloaded quickly.

Last night - as Sean Stidham points out here - the Mayor of San Diego, Republican Jerry Sanders, spoke at a rally/vigil of around 500 people, where he said that those opposing Proposition 8 are defending the rights of all minorities, not just gays and lesbians. He also mentioned that his daughter, Lisa, had become engaged to her lesbian partner.

Today, the California Supreme Court will decide whether Lisa Sanders, and every same-sex couple that wishes to get married, will have the right to do so.

Later this morning we're going to round up some of the best quotes from friends and allies on Proposition 8, and post them just before the hearing. The future of Proposition 8 then goes into the hands of the seven California Supreme Court justices.
