The Conservative Media Machine's Assault on Marriage Equality

Fox News

Gotta hand it to Media Matters for America - nobody covers the right-wing media machine like them.  Case in point, their compilation of conservative media coverage below on the issue of same-sex marriage, which shows that media outlets from Glenn Beck to Pat Robertson to Bill O'Reilly and Michael Savage are all feeding off of the same anti-LGBT talking points.

And just what are some of these right-wing commentators saying?  Well, first there's Pat Robertson who said this in regard to five states now recognizing marriage equality:

Mark my words: This is the beginning of a long, downward slide of all the things we consider to be abhorrent.

And then there's conservative shock-jock Michael Savage, on the gay rights victory in Iowa over marriage equality:

So there are the vermin now celebrating twisted, perverse marriage in the middle of America, calling it a victory.  It's a victory for perversion.

And then there's Fox News commentator Glenn Beck, arguing that marriage equality is akin to incest:

When it comes to incest, the answer is...well, you couldn't procreate, you would make mutants for children.  But if you got fixed and your sister got fixed, why couldn't you get married?

Speaking of mutants, if you'd like to hear some more from the world of the radical right-wing, check out the Media Matters compilation below.  Whether they're trying to lump same-sex marriage in with incest, beastiality, polygamy, or a host of other taboo subjects, it's clear that the right-wing in this country is grasping at straws for trying to come up with a talking point that doesn't sound discriminatory.  They're failing miserably.
