The Future of Prop 8 Gets Determined on Tuesday

Prop 8

Well, after waiting more than two months for the California State Supreme Court to rule on the validity of Proposition 8, advocates for marriage equality will finally get some answers.  The Court announced that it will rule on Prop 8 on Tuesday, May 26. In four days, we'll know the future of same-sex marriage in California, as well as the future of the approximately 18,000 same-sex couples who were married in 2008 before Election Day.

All eyes head toward Cali.  Will the State Supreme Court stand on the side of equality, or will they rule that the ballot measure - no matter how discriminatory - was the will of the people?  We'll find out on Tuesday.

In the meantime, if you haven't yet checked out Day of Decision's Web site, please do.  Demonstrations are being organized nationwide for Tuesday, to either celebrate (if the Supreme Court rules that Prop 8 is indeed unconstitutional), or demand marriage equality (if the Supreme Court rules that Prop 8 is valid).
