This Tax Day, Let's Audit Walmart

It's tax day and if you haven't already, you're most likely filing your taxes today. But while you are paying your fair share of taxes, Walmart is short-changing states using tax loopholes and fancy accounting schemes.

As states face budget shortfalls, firing teachers and public servants, and tightening their belts, Walmart is posting huge profits. Some of those profits are gained at the expense of your state because Walmart finds and abuses state tax loopholes, possibly costing your community millions in revenue.

Walmart has admitted, in recent SEC filings, that it would likely have to pay an additional $2.95 billion in taxes if the company was audited. So this tax day, we're calling for just that: an audit of Walmart.

Across the country, we're holding rallies at post offices and state Capitols. Thousands of tax payers will be out talking to their communities about the impact Walmart's tax scams are having, from schools without adequate supplies to understaffed police departments to shoddy roads. When Walmart uses tax loopholes, we the tax payers are forced to make up the difference. At these rallies we'll be collecting signatures on a petition calling for an audit of Walmart in each state which will be mailed to the state's department of revenue.

You can join us! We've set up an online action where you can email your state's taxation authority directly and call on them to investigate Walmart to determine which loopholes they're using to avoid paying their fair share of taxes.
