Trudy Steuernagel and her son, Sky Walker
Violence among autistic rare, expert says: This is the headline for an article in yesterday's Ohio.com about Sky Walker. Walker is charged with killing his mother, Trudy Steuernagel. Says Barbara Yavorcik, executive director of the Autism Society of America, Ohio Chapter, and the mother of a teenager on the spectrum:

''This type of violence is no more prevalent in the autistic population than in any other population.......And people should not be afraid.''

The case of Sky Walker, and the death of his mother, have not been easy to discuss. What can one say---would it be better to say as little as possible, and to mourn?

So I just wanted to reiterate Yavorcik's words, and the words of Ohio.com's article, and to ask that we not forget Trudy Steuernagel and Sky Walker.
