Weigh In On Fish Farming
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is holding public listening sessions that will guide their drafting of a new national policy on aquaculture, defined by NOAA as "the cultivation of marine organisms, such as shellfish and finfish, for food and other products."
This is your chance to voice your opinions, friends. NOAA officials aim to hear the public's recommendations on how the agency can best design a policy that will support the sustainability of fish farming.
Dates for the listening sessions are as follows (details here). Check out the last one on the list; a call-in session for those who aren't in any of the listed cities. The agency is also accepting public comment through the Web. (Read these guidelines before commenting, and check out submitted comments here.)
- April 14 in Narragansett, Rhode Island
- April 19 in New Orleans, Louisiana
- April 22 in Seattle, Washington
- April 27 in Honolulu, Hawaii
- April 29 in Menlo Park, California
- May 6 a national call-in hosted by NOAA
NOAA will analyze what they heard in the listening sessions as they the develop a draft national policy. So what's a concerned citizen to advise them?
