The Fair Trade Federation is the evaluating body that rigorously screen organizations for their full commitment to Fair Trade and they are looking for a Membership Coordinator. Listing below:

Membership Coordinator
Status: Full Time
Salary: $25-30,000; basic health care coverage provided
Hours: 35 hour / week; flexible work schedule available

The Fair Trade Federation is the trade association that strengthens and promotes North American organizations fully committed to fair trade. The Federation is part of the global fair trade movement, building equitable and sustainable trading partnerships and creating opportunities to alleviate poverty. The Federation's values guide our work to create a just and sustainable economic system.

As the Federation rapidly grows and changes, a membership coordinator is needed to work in our small office. Candidates will have the opportunity to build and shape systems and programs for the Federation and support its efforts to strengthen and promote fully committed Fair Trade Organizations.

Responsibilities
Together with the Executive Director, the Coordinator’s duties will include

  • Efficiently process all applicants for membership in the Federation;
  • Liaise with applicants, members, and others to collect the most comprehensive information on each applicant and to meet member needs;
  • Manage all documents for the Fair Trade Federation screening process;
  • Provide timely, accurate, and helpful support to Federation committees to evaluate candidates and to continually evaluate and improve Federation systems;
  • Respond to inquiries by phone and email regarding membership in the Federation;
  • Actively encourage candidates to apply to join the Federation;
  • Support the programs of the Fair Trade Federation, including its annual members’ conference and virtual seminars. Travel to annual conference required.;
  • Support the fulfillment of the Fair Trade Federation Strategic Plan;
  • Oversee 1-2 Federation interns per semester; and
  • Other Duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, non-profit management, international relations, sustainable development, or related fields
  • Demonstrated excellence and professionalism in oral and written communication
  • Demonstrated excellence and professionalism in managing multiple projects simultaneously, particularly those including multiple pieces of information
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals from a diverse array of backgrounds
  • Commitment to the Federation’s values and to creating a just and sustainable economic system
  • Spanish and/or French language skills strongly preferred
  • Experience in a business environment preferred
  • Experience with a Fair Trade Organization preferred
