You - Yes, You! It's Time To Run For Elected Office.

Did you know that many women won't think to run for office unless someone asks?

Did you also know that women win elections at the same rate as men - but they just don't run as often.

Today, there are 90 women who serve in the U.S. Congress. Seventeen in the Senate, and 73 in the House. According Rutgers Center for American Women in Politics, the number of women in statewide elective executive posts is 72, while the proportion of women in state legislatures is 24.3%.

It's time to get the numbers up, ladies. Yep - I'm talking to you. And fortunately, at the Women's Campaign Forum (WCF) there are a lot of new resources to help every woman you know run for office. Additionally, they are starting a campaign to encourage 2,500 women to run for elected office in the She Should Run program- and all you need to do is sign up.

Everyone knows a woman who should consider running for office, but they never think to ask.

She Should Run will help you make that ask - for a woman in office that you want to seek a higher position, for someone you know who isn't running and then for yourself. Submit their name and let WCF takes care of the rest - giving her the support, resources, and information she needs to make an informed decision. It's a powerful grassroots tool to build a political pipeline of women candidates to ensure that we reach gender equality in public office.

So, what are you waiting for?

It's time. As Jill Miller Zimon, who is running for City Council in her town in Ohio, might say - "Don't get mad, get elected."
